Privacy Policy

The short version
I'm Hannah, and I run Han With A Van as a sole trader based in London. I care about your privacy as much as I care about your things on moving day. This website has no contact form and doesn't quietly collect your personal details. The only information I ever get is what you choose to send me, usually over WhatsApp, when you ask for a quote or book a move. I use it to do your move well, and nothing else. I never sell it.
Who I am
Han With A Van is run by Hannah Crawford, a sole trader based in London. I'm the person responsible for your information (the "data controller", in the official language). For anything in this policy you can reach me on WhatsApp at +447594541334 or by email at hannahla.crawford@gmail.com.
What this website collects (almost nothing)
This site is a simple set of pages with no contact form, no login and no database. It doesn't ask you to type in any personal details, and it doesn't gather them in the background. When you tap any "get a quote" or "message me" button, it opens WhatsApp so you can message me directly. That conversation happens inside WhatsApp, not on this website.
Information you share with me directly
When you message me for a quote or to book, you'll usually share things like:
- your name
- the postcodes or addresses you're moving from and to
- your move date and a rough idea of what you're moving
- sometimes photos of your things, and access details like lifts or stairs
You share these voluntarily, because they're what I need to give you an accurate quote and carry out your move. If you'd rather not share something, that's completely fine. It might just make the quote a little less precise.
How I use your information
I only use what you send me to:
- work out and send your quote
- plan and carry out your move
- keep in touch with you about your booking
- sort the deposit and the final payment
- keep basic records for my own accounts and tax
That's it. I don't use it for marketing lists, I don't add you to anything, and I never sell or rent your details to anyone.
My lawful basis (the legal bit, kept short)
Under UK GDPR I need a "lawful basis" for using your information. For quoting and carrying out your move, that basis is performing a service you've asked for, and the steps leading up to it. For keeping invoices and records, it's my legal obligations around tax and accounts. Where I rely on legitimate interests, such as replying to a general enquiry, I keep it to what you'd reasonably expect.
How long I keep it
I keep your move details for as long as I need them to do your move and handle anything that comes up afterwards. Financial records like invoices I keep for around six years, because HMRC requires it. After that I delete or anonymise what I no longer need. Our WhatsApp messages stay in WhatsApp under your and my normal use, and you're free to delete your side at any time.
Other companies involved
To run the service I rely on a few trusted third parties, and your information may pass through them:
- WhatsApp (owned by Meta) handles our messages. Your chat with me is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy.
- Featurable and Google power the live reviews shown on my Reviews page. Loading that section may involve Featurable and Google and may set their own cookies. The reviews shown are ones customers chose to leave publicly on Google.
- A van hire company provides the van I drive. They don't receive your personal details.
- Your bank and mine handle payment, because the deposit and balance are paid by bank transfer. There are no card details for me to see or store.
Each of these companies is responsible for the data it handles under its own policy.
Cookies and analytics
This site doesn't use advertising cookies and doesn't track you around the web. To understand how many people visit, I use Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that uses no cookies and collects no personal or identifiable information. It only tells me things in aggregate, like how many people viewed a page. The one part of the site that may set its own cookies is the embedded Featurable and Google reviews widget on the Reviews page. You can read the relevant policies here:
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what information I hold about you
- ask me to correct anything that's wrong
- ask me to delete your information, where I'm not required to keep it
- ask me to limit how I use it, or object to a particular use
To use any of these, just message me on WhatsApp at +447594541334 or email hannahla.crawford@gmail.com and I'll sort it. There's no charge, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can, and within a month at the latest. If you're ever unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If I change how any of this works, I'll update this page and the "last updated" date at the top, so you can always see the current version.
